Shelley grew up in Bracebridge, Muskoka, Ontario; a small town in cottage country. She attended university in Waterloo, Ontario, earning an Honours BSc in Kinesiology. She pursued a specialty in lower limb biomechanics, later starting an Orthotics business in London, Ontario allowing her to contribute to her clients’ lives by enhancing their mobility and independence through designing custom assistive devices. From 2000-2002 she earned an MBA at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, later selling her Ontario business to move to Victoria full-time. 

Following graduating from Royal Roads University, Shelley was hired as a consultant to Royal Roads University in the role of external entrepreneurial advisor to the Bachelor of Commerce Entrepreneurial Management program. She worked for several years with teams of learners to create and operate businesses, helping them to achieve real-world business experiences. Shelley is now involved in Real Estate as a realtor, working with Macdonald Realty Ltd. In Victoria BC and she as earned the designation of CRA, certified residential appraiser. She has been working as an appraiser for 4 years, and is also licensed as a mortgage consultant. Shelley is a life-long learner who enjoys new challenges along with athletic pursuits like running, kayaking, and has a keen interest in french bulldogs.
